Local art museums make varying levels of commitment to VTS programs. At best, museums
Schedule visits for VTS classes, ideally in Grades 3-5, but at least for Grades 4-5, to be led by teachers unless staff instructors are available.
Train docents and/or staff in the VTS method to assist with class visits, splitting groups with classroom teachers in the case of large groups
Schedule docent visits to schools to observe classes, meet teachers and students, and establish a relationship with teacher/class before museum visit
Help teachers plan museum visits, including logistics, routes, and object selection
Act as host for meetings and trainings for school administrators and teachers
Help publicize, fund, and coordinate local VTS program
