"Looking back on this a couple months later after having had subsequent time to practice at my own institution I realize even more how much I gained from the Institute...Over all, this was one of the most valuable professional development experiences that I have had and I feel fortunate that I was able to have this opportunity."

Jump Starting Visual Literacy:
ArtArt, Museums, and Learning to Look

VUE Institutes offer an introduction to VTS and the research and theory on which it is based—the product of thirty years of data collection by cognitive psychologist Abigail Housen. Participants will observe, analyze and practice VTS with coaching, continuously reflecting on the relationship of theory to practice.

VUE Institutes involve a great deal of discussion. Participants are asked to read a set of materials before arrival. Institutes run from 10 am to 5pm each day, except the final day, which ends at 1 pm.

This workshop is ideal for those with little or no VTS experience or for those who want a refresher.

This Institute is strongly recommended as a prerequisite for Trainer Training.

*The Institute held in Seattle has been approved for credit and/or clock hours through Seattle Pacific University. (CRN #T1318A ART 5247: 2 credits, $43.00 per credit. CRN #T1318B CEU 3146: 2 units, $30.00 flat.) Please bring check or credit card for SPU payment; all forms will be available.
